The chili pepper was introduced to Southeast Asian cuisine over 500 years ago and local Indonesians have been using it to create spicy and full-bodied Sambal chili sauce ever since. The ingredients in Sambal are traditionally ground using a stone mortar and pestle which enhances both the flavor and texture. You’ll notice that Chabé® Sambal chili is thick and packed full of robust flavor in addition to heat when added to recipes. Popular as a condiment, dip or marinade, It’s an important staple in Southeast Asian cooking and has gained popularity in cuisines throughout the world.

OUR SAMBAL CHILI

The story of Chabé® Sambal Chili begins in the late 1900’s in the lush islands of Indonesia. Our founder’s late grandfather developed one of the earliest recipes for sweet soy, a flavorful base ingredient that was once only available to the locals & chefs in Southeast Asia.

Passionate about introducing more sauces that boast indigenous ingredients of Java and share a rich culture with the world, we launched our 50-year-old family recipe of Chabé® Sambal Chili. A flavor-rich, savory & sweet blend of fiery Cayenne and Bird’s Eye chili peppers, harvested from the tropical, mountain-side farms of Indonesia, combines with fresh garlic and tropical spices.

We’re so fired up to bring the exciting flavors of Chabé® Sambal chili to you. Our 50-year-old family recipe blends fiery Cayenne and Bird’s Eye chili peppers, harvested from the lush, mountain-side farms of Indonesia, and combines them with locally harvested fresh garlic. Traditionally called Sambal, we are introducing it to you as a twist on “Sriracha”.
